Activities of illegal miners continue unabated in several communities in the country, and recently led to several deaths in Zamfara State. Hundreds of deaths have been reported in Yalgama, Dareta and Tungar Daji Villages in Bakkuyum and Anka Local Government areas in the State as a result of lead poisoning.

Bode Olajumoke represented Senate PresidentThe plight of the physically challenged came to limelight as they took their destiny into their own hands when they embarked on a protest to the National Assembly last week to press home the passage on their bill.  The protest which began at Old Parade Ground saw men and women in their hundreds on wheel chairs, the visually impaired, deaf, dumb and physically challenged chanting songs around the streets of Abuja.

A Bill for an Act to provide for the prohibition of the use of motorcycle for commercial purpose in the Federal Capital City and Restriction on the use of private motorcycle in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja and matters connected therewith has undergone first reading in the House of Representatives.
This Bill seeks to provide a legal framework to prohibit commercial motorcycle operation in the Federal Capital City and the guidelines for commercial motorcycle operation in the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory.

Delegation for the creation of Apa State during their visit to the National Assembly Complex 

The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has confirmed that the on-going review of the 1999 Constitution is almost completed for passage into law.
Senator Mark stated that the National Assembly has completed the amendment of the relevant sections and that the Senate is “…only waiting for the endorsement of the 36 States Houses of Assembly for the final passage.”
