Alex Ibru: Exit of A Media Colossus and Philanthropist - Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike EkweremaduThe Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu has described as sad and grievous the passing away of Nigeria’s former Minister of Internal Affairs and founder The Guardian newspaper, Chief Alex Ibru. 
 


In a condolence message to the Ibru family, Senator Ekweremadu who described the late Alex Ibru as a complete gentleman and patriot who gave his best possible to Nigeria, said his death represented the exit of a media colossuses, premium entrepreneur, philanthropist, and an ecumenist.
 
The Deputy President of the Senate noted that though Chief Alex had gone too soon, he nevertheless made his marks on the sands of time and sowed seeds of service to humanity for which he deserved to be celebrated.
 
“Chief Alex Ibru will evermore be remembered for his immense contributions to the growth of the media industry, national peace and unity, in addition to his highly principled stint in public service, his altruism, and a heart of gold that was completely and tirelessly committed to humanity till the end,” Ekweremadu said.
 
Senator Ekweremadu added that among other things, “The Guardian newspaper which has remained a bastion of democracy and good governance as well as a landmark in professionalism, integrity, responsibility, and high ethical standards in the Nigerian media industry remains not just one of Chief Ibru’s best legacies to the nation, but a reflection of the quality of his character as a person.”
 
He therefore condoled with the Government and people of Delta State, especially the Ibrus and The Guardian family over the irreparable loss and enjoined all Nigerians to pray for the peaceful repose of his gentle soul.
